It is our debut season in the u14 national league. In our first game, we played against Norwich Knights. It was a close first half which we were losing 5-3 at half time. In the second half our shooting accuracy improved and our better attacking play showed by scoring 8 unanswered goals to win 11-5. Deryn Gwynn scored a hat trick and Josh Ford and Kaitlyn Brooks both scored 2 each in a great team performance.
The second game was much closer against Milton Keynes. We took an early lead which lead to them taking a time out after 2mins. Goals were then traded upto half time in which we were 3-2 down. The second half started and our good play didnt pay off as the ball wouldnt drop in the basket and leade to going 5-2 down. We then started to find our range and brought the game to within 1 goal. In a tight tense last 5mins we were unable to to pull level and ended up losing 6-5.
After the first round of fixtures, we sit 4th in the table and are 3rd top goalscorers in the league.
Ely Vikings will be taking part in Health & Happiness Day on September 25th at Pocket Park, Ely. We are running a stall, and putting on a demonstration between 12.40 and 13.20. They've promised to cut the grass, and we can put up two posts. This is an ideal chance to showcase the sport and hopefully attract some new members to come along to Vikings. We need volunteers for the demo - so please contact Phil. Details on the event are at www.eastcambs.gov.uk/healthandhappinessday.Read more →

CKA considers MK application.
The CKA committee is to decide if Milton Keynes Lakers can join the league, to play in the top division.
The key issue is likely to be the distances involved. In order to make the system work the Lakers are proposing that while they would fit in with the existing league sides times and venues, the Milton Keynes games would be fixed at a pre-set time on a Sunday. The league will have to weigh the benefits of expanding the pool of sides, and including a leading club, against the travel burden on existing teams. Watch this space !Read more →
