ABOUT

ELY VIKINGS KORFBALL CLUB

Since 2006, Ely Vikings have been providing opportunities for all ages to play the growing sport of Korfball. The club currently has three teams in the local Cambridgeshire Korfball League (CKA), as well as a team in the competitive Southern Eastern Regional League (SERL).

The Vikings are currently experiencing great success with their youth players on the international stage, seeing 7 members of the club representing England across various age groups in the last five years.

Korfball is a game for everyone, of all ages, and anyone aged 5-65+ can come along and try the sport, whether that be causally or competitively. Ely Vikings give families the chance to play together, and there are many examples of family links already at the club.

We train every Monday evening at the Hive Leisure Centre, 6pm – 7pm for juniors (aged 5-13) and 7pm – 9pm for seniors. We also have an invite-only training session on Wednesdays from 7pm – 8pm. Your first session is completely free, so why not come along and join the fun?

WHAT IS KORFBALL?

Korfball is a mixed-sex team sport played by hand within a rectangular field of play. Teams of four female players and four male players try to shoot a ball into a korf (basket).

The sport’s main characteristics encompass all-round skills, co-operative play, controlled physical contact and gender equality.

Originating in Holland, Korfball is now played internationally in 57 different countries.
